This underhanded approach by Hill$ong is really disgusting.
As if their program is truly going to be 'non-religious'. Although maybe to them being 'non-religious' just means limiting the hallelujah's to one per minute?? ![]() (by the way...love the use of the $ Mr Black )

I want to see these young girls come to a knowledge of salvation…to get to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour….” – ‘Sunshine’ (from Youtube video)
I have been pondering this for a day now. It is obvious that they have done their market research and know their odds are better when approaching the female folk as opposed to the male folk (see Why Darwin Matters, Michael Shermer - Chapter 3 In Search of the Designer). This should mean that eventually there would be far more female Christians than male and that would render them mateless therefore less children being raised as Christians eventually wiping out this parasitic virus? One could only hope but somehow I suspect not. Their arch-nemesis would come to their rescue with the advent of artificial insemination. Although, they would then have to evolve their "family value" principles on the single mum front. I would like to think they might be shooting themselves in the foot with this kind of programme but somehow I don't think it will be that easy. |

Yeah well, but nature is stronger than God. Eventually, man will be forced to marry Christian woman. It's either God or we're through. Happened to me.

This is downright pushing of values to impressionable young ones. Without first questioning if those values are true.
Reminds me of my own experience in secondary school. A group of University students volunteer to offer us free extra curricular courses. The one I attended was photography. All this was conducted after school, without the supervision of any school authority. At first the instructor gave us good tips, and showed us wonderful pictures that he took. Then he started telling us about God's marvelous creations, and how if we were Christians, our lives would be in order. At the end, they made us bow our heads and pray to God. Since everybody did it, I had no choice but to bow my head as well. After that I asked my friend, apparently he did it for the same reason. I would NEVER want anybody's children to go through that again. How would those fundie instructors like it, if we gained the trust of their children and start preaching to them, that those who believed in God are loons?

One of my young children was recently able to participate in a philosophy class during the school day. I was impressed, (after asking many questions as to what the discussion topics were) a class designed to provoke free-thinking. This kind of thing is what is required for children, not "finishing" school type programmes. I think if I had have been subject to this kind of programme and given the impression that my life's purpose was to look good and conduct myself in a "lady-like" fashion I may have done myself in. I've put a lot of effort into dispelling the "Barbie" myth with my children....let alone the religious indoctrination! Where's Germaine Greer when ya need her? |

The gender role reinforcement was the first thing I noticed about the above vid, and then reading what Mr B has posted I can't believe they are getting away with this!
Time to spread some awareness methinks

Glad to see someone else is on this case; here are some comments I posted on Online Opinion's Forum on Tuesday; my daughter is undergoing the Shine thing:
Further on the “Shine” proselytisation scandal. The girls in the class were asked if they knew a song called “Mirror”, and were told that they soon would as it was taking off in Europe (Alleluia!). And then the song was played and they all rocked along to it (as you do). They got the expurgated version (for now), but check out what I found on utube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpVRgye2ihk Charming stuff, hey; here are the song lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/barlowgirl/mirror.html See how it ties into the theme of beautification? These girls are being groomed (literally and spiritually): come in girls, we’ll make you beautiful; and later, “but hey, that ain’t what it’s all about, man! God sees through all that ...” And to reiterate, when that innocent looking form came home for me to sign there was nothing in there about the slavering zealots I was authorising to brainwash “my” child. And this in a State School! This is beyond the pale. Even the spineless apologists for these parasites, like Sells, should blanch with embarrassment at this kind of paedophilia! Priscillian, I take your point, and I agree that even comparative religion has no place in “primary school”; but I was in a mind to compromise as discretion is the better part of valour. No more! These hounds have no scruples—and no place in our public education system! |
