No so sure. In my experience people who have difficulty with honesty include:

1. really smart people who can talk themselves into things, or who see some kind of distinction between truth and honesty; and

2. xians who think that normal rules of society ranging from how other people get treated socially, to laws of the land, are less important than god's work.

Default "Doctor" Kent Hovind's doctoral Thesis

Kent Hovind's doctoral Thesis.
http://88.80.16.63/leak/kent-hovind-...ssertation.pdf

I know I posted this in the "Creation" Thread, but because I saw fit to branch off into "Goonery" which got out of hand due to the posts of other Honourable Members of the Goon Fan Club, the Thread got closed.

Well I just finished reading this "Thesis". You all know who this Kent Hovind it. This is the worst bullshit ever written since the Buybull. Hovind finishes up with this outrageous claim:

EVOLUTION IS A RELIGION.

What are the requirements needed to earn a degree from these "university departments". I'm sure they aren't all completely shonky, some must have some actual requirements and standards.

I imagine that some of them are quite above board and deal with historical aspects of "theology" and such (I remenger an interesting documentary on the political shenanigans of popes down the ages, including changing scripture to fit political needs).

What is required at the other ones though, is merely being able to memorise large parts of a book enough? Is demonstrating an intimate knowledge of the beaurocracy of a particular cult what is required?

Similarly what is required to earn a place in the clergy (each cult will be different of course). Do you need to do sermons 101, weddings 102, introductory baptism with prerequisites in begetting and smiting? Or is it a matter of turning up for a certain length of time and having people think you'd be good in the job?

Only talking about the mainstream cults here, not the DIY jobs.

Yes, I thought it might be something like that, "you pays your money, you gets your paper"

I just read this. Skimmed and read choice parts out to my husband is more like it. Because I couldn't bear to read it in full, holy jesus h. christ on a pogo stick, it's shit from beginning to end. If I was marking this, even if I DID support his crackpot, lunatic worldview, I wouldn't pass this nonsense based purely on the inconsistencies, grammar and spelling errors and typos that would make me think NO ONE actually proofread this garbage. It's making my brain hurt :/

Not to mention that there is not a single, NOT A SINGLE citation, reference, or otherwise to support where he got this fantasy from, or where any of the completely out of context quotes were from. Oh sorry one - NEWSWEEK! No scientific experimentation, no objectivity, it's simply full of his personal opinions and "data" based on his thought processes and nothing more. I simply can't believe that ANY college, even a diploma mill like the one he attended, would pass this. It reads like an illiterate 9th grader. It doesn't even have a bibliography. *le sigh* It even has a "poem" that he dreamed up one night. There is nothing scientific whatsoever about this "dissertation" I mean, he even goes so far as the "your momma is so fat" comment on Darwin's grandfather, as if that somehow supports his claim that the bible is true.

Incase anyone wants it and the above linky isn't working, I have a copy I'm happy to zip up and mail out. O_O

Kent Hovind is in jail for tax evasion, I thinks he's still there. Has anyone seen the "interview" that Ali G did with hovind and three others discussing science and creation. Just look up the key words Ali G, and creation on youtube. It's very funny.

Classic line from Ali G, my mate does not have anything to do with science or technology, if you don't believe me check out his website.
