I saw a vid on youtube from a couple of years ago where Hitchens said he was giving up smoking for the benefit of his children. He waited too long though...

Mrs WAS and I watched the Byrnes interview. The following conversation ensued:

Mrs WAS: I'd totally do him.

WAS: he's one of two people I'd turn gay for.

Mrs WAS: who's the other?

WAS: Stephen Fry.

Mrs WAS: oh yeah, I'd do him too.

WAS: so ... you'd turn straight for him?

Mrs WAS: [coughing fit]

I suspect Jennifer had the same thoughts going through her mind. She seemed to adore him.

It was funny at the end when he made the comment about women working, she didn't see that coming.

Default Christopher Hitchens update

-Vanity Fair June 30, 2010
"I have been advised by my physician that I must undergo a course of chemotherapy on my esophagus. This advice seems persuasive to me. I regret having had to cancel so many engagements at such short notice."

http://www.hitchenszone.com/

I would like to wish him all the best for this upcoming ordeal.

He doesn't really need to apologise for anything... sometimes shit happens.

Wishing all the best of course.

Thanks for the update.

Hitch writes another article for Vanity Fair, this time musing on prayer.

Gotta love the guy...

A different secular problem also occurs to me: what if I pulled through and the pious faction contentedly claimed that their prayers had been answered? That would somehow be irritating.

Why give prayer such a boost? How about a "sympathy for Hitchens day" instead?

It is, apparently, Pray for Hitchens day.

Except around here, I expect.
