Default Rudd, Abbott address Christian vote

http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/1...Christian-vote

To summarise some of it:

"I don't want to discriminate against homosexuals. However, they don't have the right to marriage."

Has this been uploaded to youtube or something?

Along with the address that was held I remember hearing something about the Archbishop George Pell saying that he is concerned about the likelihood that the Greens will be gaining the balance of power in the next Senate.
"Their program is explicitly anti-Christian," I think were his words...

Does anyone here know what the Greens party is doing that has George Pell saying the comments? I'm interested now.

John Kaye, the NSW Green, has had a go over their attempts to block the NSW schools ethics course; and, I think Bob Brown is touted as an atheist.

I found the website in question today and ive linked it below. After looking around I found some quotes which are not surprising at all.

Quote:
I am away on the 21st June and am unable to watch the event anywhere. What can I do to watch the event afterwards?

This is a one-off event. However, a replay may be available for download at a nominated time after the event. Please keep and eye on www.AustraliaVotes.org for details.
Quote:
I am not a Christian or member of any church, can I watch the webcast?

Unfortunately, Mr Rudd and Mr Abbott will be specifically addressing the Christian voter and only churches and Christian organisations will be able to register for the webcast.

However, media will have the opportunity to attend the Canberra event and will be freely available to report on the speeches.

The greens are pro-euthanasia, anti-censorship, pro-abortion, pro-state/church separation, pro-homosexual/bisexual/transexual rights, pro-decriminalising drugs, pro-gender rights, and pro-science.

Pretty much everything a hardline christian like Pell hates.

*Disclaimer*

I think the Greens are excellent.

So basically George Pell doesn't want a bar of anyone who will empty even more pews?... Is George Pell a reasonable (and I mean that lightly) sort of fellow or is he a staunch asshole when it comes to religion in Australia?

I knew the Greens supported some of that but now that I know even more about them I'm so glad I voted for Bobby!

One of the staunchest assholes of all staunch assholes.

Have a look at some of what he believes here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Pell#Views

Not mentioned there though, are his beliefs that homosexuality is wrong, that secularisation is the principle cause of problems in the world, that abortion is wrong, and that cancer can be cured by prayer.

There is plenty more where that came from as well. He pretty much says something outrageous every time he opens his mouth. The guy was born in the wrong age. He would have fit right in during the dark ages.

If it weren't so serious Pell would be a comedy routine. He also thinks that vegetarianism is wrong because Hitler was a vegetarian.
My recollection is that he insisted before and during Pope Palpatine's visit that there was no grounds for an apology to people sexually abused by priests - right up to the day that Palpatine made the apology.
