Sorry Spud, I thought you were referring to the those little V8 killers the LC/LJ torries. I had a couple and they were great little cars. The best one I had was an LC with a worked over 179 bored out to 190. Drove it around for 4 years before rust killed it.
Next was an LX (Sunbird ) which quickly got an XU-1 202 transplant. Drove that around for 8 years. They were great cars for their day, much better than the first generation commondoors. Holden have always been very good at dipping into the GM parts bin and building something unique. Ford also. It's something us aussies have been very good at but alas I don't think it will go on for much longer.

No reason Aussie cars can't be built, but i think niche marketers like Atom and Spyker show how.

I've always wanted a Boxter, but have never driven one.
I have however driven a Mini Cooper S,in 1969. Because you are sitting about 6 inches off the ground, the startling acceleration and speed seem more than they really are.It was a mate's car. Driving it once, between Holsworthy and Liverpool, was enough for me. (hitting the top of that hill at 120 MPH is not something I've ever forgotten) The best car I've ever owned was a Datsun 1600 which I bought new in 1972. I absolutely loved that car,and kept buying Nissans to recapture the thrill, but never did.Gave up after 30 years. Today I have a Toyota a boring, a 4 cylinder Camry. Very sedate, suits me fine.

I have, in mine time, owned a 253 LH Torana, a Suzuki GSX 400 and a Suzuki RG500.
But that was a long time ago and these days I rather boringly regard cars as, as my father in law used to put it, "a fancy way of walking". Not criticising others for their consumption choices, but I have other, higher, priorities. So we currently have a Toyota Yaris and a cleverly-designed psychological stress-test in the form of an ancient Magna which I'd like to swap for a Prius.
