Default Hello all

Hi All,

I am a new member (forum and foundation) and, obviously, this is my first post.

The foundation was introduced to me by my fire brigade captain and I decided that i needed to join in order that I could boost the number of financial members - being that in a democracy () it is, afterall, a numbers game...

Hopefully many more posts to come.

Regards, Tristan.

yep – and another part of the reason I joined.

Just having gone through the Vic bushfires and also being a long term atheist I could no longer stand by and watch all these "memorial" services being held by the various religions – I mean if they really believe they it was their god who actually caused all this death and destruction isn’t it a bit insensitive for them to even turn up to these memorials, let alone organize them???

The last straw for me (I suppose I mean in terms of how far my capacity to follow a “live and let live” rule goes) was when the local Christian School had all the children present us (the local CFA) with hundreds of thank-you cards, thanking us for fighting the fires etc. Nice sentiment from the kids, but every one of the cards contained words to the effect of “god is watching over you” or “we are praying for you”…I mean FFS someone needs to point out to these kids that praying to their god for the firefighters and victims would be like telling an abused runaway child that you would ask their abusive father if he would take them home and forgive them (for being such a victim?!?) and look after them…

[rant over - sorry I tend to do that]
