Geeeez!! here is a link to an Amish website
http://www.amishcountry.org/

What hypocrites. One should think an "Amish website" is a kind of oxymoron. They have actually skipped over the 20th century and come into the 21st.

And when clicking on the link .... http://www.amishcountry.org/the.amish.lifestyle it was written also in third person. I did ponder at the statement "Photography—All forms and methods of photography are strictly forbidden...." when it was bordered by photos of alleged amish children. Clever, but not clever enough.

Are you quite sure HPW is wrong in their word usage Annie?

I did find this website http://www.mennoniteusa.org/

I should think the temptation for fundies to proselytize with the internet would be pretty hard to resist and the Amish could be all to ready to take advantage of this given time as it is very difficult to proselytize with a tractor unless they ploughed prayers and passages from the Bible in the middle of a field in Pennsylvania for airline passengers and crew 35,000 feet up to read.

@GodwinGrey.... I am never sure of anything, (to be sure). I thought the thread needed some lightening and jumped in, boots and all. I hope HPW didnt mind. I guess it was unfortunate for HPW that his/her post was in close proximity to where the thread took a somewhat sombre tone. Sorry HPW. Although his/her use of 'simplistically' was ok, given the need to divert, I threw in my jibberish two cents worth. However, in saying that, I know 'simplistically' is a fine word but 'simply' is just as fine and given the reduction in keystrokes, in economic terms, 'simple' to my mind, seemed the preferred option. thanks for the opportunity to clarify GG.

Nah, I'm not bothered at all! I chose to to use the word because De-Scribe's opening post used the term 'simplicity'. So my logic then was:
since 'simply' has a much broader meaning than 'simplistically' it might be taken differently from what I intended if I was to use it.
Following my own logic a bit further though, it would have been the most clear of me to have said 'You don't need religion to live in simplicity' <<using the exact wording of OP.

But unfortunately as a law student it seems I have been subtly indoctrinated to tend towards the use of superfluous wording

Anyway Annie, thanks for lightening the mood of the thread a bit .
