I have just seen an ad in the paper for TPG ADSL2.
The promise is 120GB (60+ 60 off peak) ,uploads not counted,plus rounding to 1mb for $49.95 a month. 18m month contract. I've been using Adam for over 2 years without any dramas and excellent tech support. Adam supplies me with 80Gb(40+40 off peak) 40 GB total upload for $69.95 a month. $49.95 is therefore tempting,although I'm not thrilled with the 18 month contract. I usually use the full 40GB ,but seldom much off peak allowance. On line reviews are mixed I'd be grateful for any information from forum users who have used TPG. |

been using tpg for a while now, no complaints.... the only one i have is that where we are we cant get adsl2+ with anyone and that our normal adsl is more expensive than adsl 2 +....... figure that one out.. it's not their fault though...

@Loubert
Thanks. I currently have ADSL2 through Adam. My interest is because TPG offer a far better deal for $20 a month less. |

I was with TPG before they were TPG! I had many years of great internet and service from them.
Then they moved everything offshore and it all went to shit (in our experience). We got broadband as soon as it was available, then ADSL2 and the speeds promised were never delivered and the service was crappy. We dropped out much of the time. Also, we'd go on a plan, then a few months later would read on their site that the plan had changed (ie. more for less) but we were still paying the same! That was annoying. The prices were good and the ads enticing but we had to end the relationship ultimately. We went with iiNet and have not had any problems since. We have a VoIP phone with them too. We pay something like $89 per month 60/60 plus the phone (it's called a Naked DSL plan). We nearly always use the full 60 GB too. If your current provider suits overall and you haven't had problems, I wouldn't change to TPG. That's my 2c

Thanks Praxis
Being a paranoid cynic, that's about what I suspected. When something seems too good to be true------ Besides I've been with Big Pond, Primus, Dodo (shudder) and stuffed around by Optus. I have a deep distrust of ISPs and of their contracts. I had a 6 month contract when I began with Adam. Adam is an Adelaide company with excellent support. I can actually go into their office and talk to some one face-to-face. I will not do business with an ISP which is of shore if I can avoid it.I'll stick with Adam |

I have been with TPG for quite a few years now after moving from iinet which at the time was far too expensive compared to what TPG were offering. Have never had a problem with them aside from one issue when moving house a few years ago but that ultimately turned out to be a modem issue, not TPG but the issue was their customer service which comparatively speaking is not that great, but in saying that, I don't join for the customer service, just for the connection to the net. As far as I can tell, I can't find anyone else who provides the same connection at that price, most other companies are ripping everyone off especially the big ones like optus and Telstra, honestly I don't know why anyone would even bother with them at all. But yeah, I recommend TPG as they offer the best rates out there but if you are looking for good customer service and you know diddly squat about how to setup an internet connection, I would go elsewhere.
