Thanks for that Chasly.

Not too bad, although I strenuously object to that tired old chestnut about Dawkins being "the movement's supreme deity". That's nonsense.

Beat me to it mate.

The article was like the curate's egg,and I think gave a rather misleading impression in trying to stereotype atheists as a group. To be expected from the shallow and the ignorant I guess. (journalists, politicians,members of the lunar religious right,etc)

Now, now Seamus, not all journos fall into that category (hello Michael Bachelard!)

Speakers include Dawkins, the movement's supreme deity;
It's called "herding cats" for a reason.

Heaven forbid if some of us non-joiners are willing to stand up and say what we think once in a while...

Of course not, dear. And we wouldn't expect you to, either.

I think we can be fairly confident that "supreme deity" is a joke.

I don't know this journalist, so I can't tell if it was satirical. Now, if Asher Moses had written it, I might have spotted it.

She's the SMH religion reporter, so I'm not entirely sure it is meant to be a joke (unless you have some inside info? An atheist as a religion reporter strikes me as entirely appropriate actually )
