Default Hello AFA

Hi AFA

I wanted to say hello and introduce myself before posting on the topics.

Firstly thanks to the Mods and David Nicholls for an excellent site, I have read a lot of the contributed material here and read many posts but have never been involved up to this point.

(The old saying about herding cats comes to mind)

I have never had any supernatural belief myself and thank my parents for bringing me up in a secular environment. I have friends and family that are not as fortunate and I note with dismay the negative impact theistic belief has on them.

I have been worried for a while about the influence Christian and Islamic lobby groups are having on democracy. Despite not being part of this group I do have a series of letters I send to newspaper whenever ID/Human Rights/Medical Research
Opponents feel a need to display their ignorance. I make sure they know some of us absolutely do not agree.

I am a member of Australian Sceptics and enjoy the work of Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, Bertrand Russell, The humanist writings of Albert Einstein, Steven Pinker
Massimo Pigliucci, and follow blogs and podcasts re Evolutionary Biology and Cosmology.
Al this is purely for my own pleasure, I don’t have any qualifications in Science or Philosophy.

I will be attending the Global Atheist Convention in March and hope to meet some of you there.

All the best
Faithless

Hi there and welcome!

Your name is familiar - are you a poster over at RDF? (I am Aesthetic Atheist over there). Kangaroo avatar perhaps?

Anyway, great to have you here and yes, there'll be loads of people to meet in March

It's shaping up to be completely awesome!

Hi Praxis

I have frequented the RDF site but never posted on it.

I did post on the Bryan Pattersons blog Faithworks a bit but stopped when I realised How dishonest Bryan Patterson is.
Good to see him have his arse handed to him by some of the lovely people here when he wrote that rubbish on Atheists a while back.

As David Nicholls said he is fighting for his existence.

Thats what started me thinking I should register with AFA and stop flying solo.

I am so looking forward to GAC, as I said previously to someone from AFA
"looking forward to a rip snorting event!"

All the best

Faithless

Thanks for that Faithless - I've realised I am confusing you with Faithfree

Yep, Bryan Patterson was quite a surprise to me - he got really quite nasty. Not very xtian of him at all

Hope to see you around the place.

Cheers.

Great, even more names to get confused. If I ever happen to confuse you with Fearless, I apologise now.

Welcome.

I remember either on this forum or the BAMG forum there was/is a SinisterDexter and SchizoDeluxe and all three of us were arguing - those two v me.

Needless to say I got confused very quickly (which isn't too hard for me), and ended up addressing several posts to which they both had no idea what I was talking about - because it was intended for the other.

They both signed posts as SD too which made it even more difficult.
