Default Atheist AND Agnostic?

How come?
Well, I am atheist regarding all historic deities of human imaging, mostly based on fearful memory of the Old Man of the Tribe. This is the God of Love (albeit also stern and demanding).
On the other hand, I'm agnostic about any 'deity' which may lurk behind the natural world of science. After all, Nature does operate according to 'laws', and there just might be a Law-Maker (green-eyed monster?). There is no point praying to this entity, as It devised a world of Evolution where most life preys on other life. In both cases, I live ignoring both gods.

Hi there. Welcome.

You may be surprised to find a majority here happily refer to themselves as agnostic atheists.

Their definition of those words may vary slightly from yours though.

This is a welcome thread though and that discussion is for other places, he said in his bestest Modly voice, so as all could hear it.

Hiya Don. Welcome.

The Nizkor Project- Logical Fallacies

Atheist: n; A person to be pitied in that he is unable to believe things for which there is no evidence, and who has thus deprived himself of a convenient means of feeling superior to others.

Welcome Don.

And you might find yourself here:

What, indeed, is an atheist? He is one who destroys delusions which are harmful to humanity in order to lead men back to nature, to reality, to reason. Baron d'Holbach

If we go back to the beginnings of things, we shall always find that ignorance and fear created the gods; that imagination, rapture and deception embellished them; that weakness worships them; that custom spares them; and that tyranny favours them in order to profit from the blindness of men. Baron d'Holbach

Richard Dawkins said
Rather than say he's an atheist, a friend of mine says, 'I'm a tooth fairy agnostic,' meaning he can't disprove God but thinks God is about as likely as the tooth fairy.
From: https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/q...daw626819.html

I prefer the term "Tooth Fairy Atheist".

Welcome to AFN. I hope you share more about your position on religion and God.

Thumbs up Re: Atheist AND Agnostic?

Hi Don,

By definition theist /atheist are belief or non-belief states, and gnostic /agnostic are knowledge claims.
Just stick to the idea that science tests falsifiable hypotheses to destruction.
