Post Greeting from an Ex-Muslim

hello everyone,

my name is faris born and rise in saudi arabia (the birth place of islam) for 24 years of my life (im 27 now) i have been a muslim and believed in what called Allah i pray 5 time a day and fasting ramadan i been to makkah so many time now looking back at this i realized what a waste of time and money and energy that is.

couple of years back a come a cross a few strange words like (quantum,Schrödinger's cat, multiverse) and i start searching to find people like Lawrence Krauss, Neil Tyson, Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins.

the amount of new and shocking information was massive it was like i where living underground or in cave my hole life i never felt that good or sure about anything in my life its even get better i get to know more interesting people like Nietzsche,Descartes,Locke,Russell,Sartre(my personal favorite)

i start to understand why some part of the world are more advance then others, and why is religions always stand against science and making you ignorance, my life have change a lot im a better person now im fully aware that there is no different between any religions they are all fake and made by men and we are all equal in rights there is no heaven and hell we do good thing to make our plant good not for a reward or forgiveness we must do good for other people for them not cuz god told you so.

i had a hard time back in Saudi Arabia with my family and friends i was silly to think you can change people faith with out loses the number of people wanted to talk to me keep decreasing every day at first they kept saying its a matter of time and you will go back to Allah its just phase in life (little they know), then no body wanted to discus Islam (by the way Islam is very fragile religion but the influences and funding of the Islamic regime to keep the people ignorance to archive a political gains) things was going to a dead end either i shut up for ever or i end up losing my head.

i decided that no body have the right to keeping me from saying my opinion, and im not given up on trying to make a different in this world im graduate of political science but my country prevents elections, political parties and criticism of the king, royal family or religion my chances of living their equal to 0.

so i left..

i have no regrets life is ahead of me currently working on forming a secular political party its not like im going to elections, put to educate people about the importance of freedom, political pluralism and the seriousness of the interference of religion in government.

so here you have it fellow atheist the world still need a lot of work and sacrifices to be made so we all can live in peace.

proud to be a member in this foundation, hopefully i can bring something new in here.

Regards,

Faris

Hi Faris,
The world needs more vocal ex-Muslims.
Have you heard of the Secular Jihadists podcast? http://secularjihadists.libsyn.com/
Ex-Muslims talking about their lives, and I personally find it very interesting.

If we go back to the beginnings of things, we shall always find that ignorance and fear created the gods; that imagination, rapture and deception embellished them; that weakness worships them; that custom spares them; and that tyranny favours them in order to profit from the blindness of men.
