Ha ha ha, A MILLION MUSLIMS? 476,291 as at 2011, or 2% of the population.

So what happens if the "No Religion" numbers surge? Will they reduce the number of Mosques and Churches? I highly doubt so. I don't get the logic in that Facebook post, plus 1 million Muslims in Australia? I would like to see the source of that figure

Another interview tomorrow! Tune in at *argrhrhhrblrbbrbrbr time in the morning for me...* which is George and Paul on 2UE this Saturday at 8.15am!

I'm going to be on some strong cold medication, so I'll try not to be too peppy throughout. Just peppy enough to get the message out!

Anger? More likely dismay (and a few beers under my belt)

More often than not when someone joins the forums and says they're "agnostic", something like this is immediately posted, as a "welcome".

I'd suggest that that's better left until they've become more comfortable with the forums.
why do the atheists both have beards?:-)

It would have been nice if they'd let you talk, rather than continually talking over you, and straw-manning our position.

I'll have the recording up on the website in a half hour or so.

No you are entirely correct, the ABS figures don't decide what happens to churches and mosques, the people who live in that are and attend those churches and mosques make that decision. Government services are provided based on the ABS figures, and while some may make the argument we are a christian nation it's not true.

It's also objectively true that increasing the number of people who mark Muslim won't increase the number of mosques because presumably even if the numbers are larger than expected, all these people, being Islamic, already attend mosques or pray in the privacy of their own home.

You don't get he logic because there is no logic, you are not at fault

In fact the number of churches has been steadily falling over the western nations simply because they become abandoned by the people and are repurposed, so by any reasonable argument or logic it's obvious that the ABS stats don't control the number of churches. They might tell us how many churches or mosques to expect in a particular area or city, which is what they are meant to do, but they have nothing to do with the numbers themselves, it's an information gathering exercise to determine where best to direct government funds.

Because you can't tell the different by just looking at an atheist, males and females look exactly the same, it's only under their clothes they are different.....oops sorry that's dwarves isn't it.

But seriously I would suggest it's because these types of diagrams are made primarily by male atheists and subconscious sexual discrimination is taking place, what some people would call passive discrimination that people aren't even aware of practicing.

We should all keep that in mind, nicely spotted two dogs, I must admit it didn't occur to me either until you mentioned it.
