Default Interviewee required for i-D magazine article

The AFA recently received the request below. If anyone who fits the requirements would like to be interviewed, post in this thread (or PM me if you prefer), and I'll put you in touch with Sarah. I assume that the interview would be conducted over the phone. First in, best dressed.
Good afternoon,
My name is Sarah Gooding, I'm a writer for i-D magazine. I am looking to interview someone who has felt alienated as an atheist during the Christmas holidays for an article that's part of a series I'm writing.

Would the Atheist Foundation of Australia be able to put me in touch with someone who could speak about this experience sometime in the next few days? Ideally the person would be fairly young (under 30), so that our audience can relate to them.

If you could ask around in your network I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks and kind regards,

Sarah Gooding

Why would an atheist feel alienated by christmas?

Burden of proof is the obligation on somebody presenting a claim to provide evidence to support its truth (a warrant). Once evidence has been presented, it is up to any opposing "side" to show the evidence presented is not adequate. If claims were accepted without warrants, then every claim could simultaneously be claimed to be true.

History isn't written by the victors. It's written by the people with the time machines.

The word atheist always elicits connotations with those who haven't thought about it.

I don't feel alienated. I don't want to belong, friends, colleagues and comrades. The Christmas carols in Woolworths leaves me mildly disconnected, dissociative, but everyone is in a reverie.

Mary's boy child Jesus Christ. How weird, how absurd. For everyone else, it's pure normality. They have undergone normalisation. It's also called socialisation.

When the general populace realise that Xmas is merely an overzealous marketing excercise then I may have some feelings.... I dont believe in Santa Clause either yet SWMBO has me hanging his beaming countenance from the ceiling....

Its a silly article to attempt to write, she's in the wrong country to start with. She's obviously a theist, or comes from a strong theistic background, to think that atheists in Australia have issues with alienation from xmas.

Even grinches like me dont feel alienated, oh how fucking lucky i'd be if i did!

Anyway, i'm confident that by next year's census there'll be less than 50% xtians so really she should consider interviewing xtians about how they feel regarding their majic Jebus' birthday party being crashed by consumerism, gluttony and family disputes.

She should head to Manus Island - I'm sure she'd find one or two

Point her to this thread and suggest maybe some non-alienated atheists would like to be interviewed.

I had an upbringing which included belief in the Christian fairy-tale, I have no discernible belief in divine beings, and I live in a predominantly Buddhist country....

But I still celebrate Christmas by eating good food, watching my family eat Xmas dinner by Skype, and exchanging gifts.

I love Xmas, even if it does feel strangely pointless when living in a tropical country - I understand that most Australians connect Christmas to blue skies and roasting sunshine - but to me, it's supposed to be freezing cold and hopefully buried under deep snow!
