I am probably more perplexed about the amount of fundie replies which contain significant hate speech and course language towards others. We must think of a term for this like Hypocritical Ignorance, or similar.

A good example of hypocrisy, IMO: In many supposedly secular govts, the religious still seem to have the most power and influence. ya.

And they go around saying we need More internet tracking, More internet filtering, More censureship in general. And they say we need More security cameras, Mandatory\compulsory chip implants (they're optional right now), Mandatory biometrics, etc,etc,etc...

However, they are also the very ones running around warning everyone about the end of days, and the mark of the beast (often depicted as a barcode or microchip in rapture movies), and how no one will be able to buy or sell anything without this mark. And new xtians will flee to the mountains to avoid getting tracked, and do everything you can to guard against these things and be on your toes because these things are the work of The Accuser (satan), on and on and on...

What the hell are they trying to do... make a self fulling prophecy out of it? How can they be pushing both sides like that... doing satan's work for him! WTHell? Can't they figure out what the hell they believe and stick with it? It's like when they say science and tech are bad, yet they use it to build their churches and all. And then they say one can't serve g-d and mammon? It really must take a special kind of blindness to be this thickheaded.

There are pros and cons to the chip. But, I wouldn't want one. I don't have that much faith in the govt and we've all seen how fast tech can evolve... faster than regulations can be put into place, anyhow. The first vid is two yrs old. The second seems to be fairly new. Whoever is developing them has an invested interest in seeing them succeed. Again. just IMHO. Sorry for the little rant...

I think the shirt is too strong - not that i'm being Devil's Advocate, its just that I think the more gentle poking of fun/independence of thought is a better approach overall.

In fact I would say blasphemy has nothing to do with it.

I suspect the wearer wasn't making a considered intellectual statement against religion either (though if I ever write a book on atheism I intend to make masturbating nuns a key feature).

There was the famous case in the US where a kid was arrested for carrying a sign which said 'Fuck the Draft"


BUT,most people I know are at least embarrasssed by the word 'cunt' AND I think the image of a nun masturbating would be considered obscene generally in Australia.

IF such an image is going to be allowed in public,so too should porn shops be permitted graphic window displays of their magazines.

Am I offended? No. Do I care if others are offended? No. But politicians pander to the lowest common denominator, so have to at least pretend to be offended when they think a lot of voters are offended. Tin Tin does it all the time.
