Default Girl guides remove god and queen from pledge

The Girl Guides have lost all references to god and the defender of imaginary friends from their pledge:

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/new...-1226418333658

ON ABC AM this morning, the spokesperson for the Guides said something to the effect that pledges to god were no longer relevant to young people today! I wonder what reaction that will draw ...

The tele is running a poll at the link that I have put up, and it is running in against the decision at the moment.

Well it looks like the girl guides have removed god and queen from their pledge.

Getting with the times? I don't know much about the organization to know if this is a big deal or not.

Oh great, now what's going to happen? They'll start doing crime, dressing provocatively, drinking alcohol, getting pregnant and start selling hash cookies!

I can now buy my wife a Girl Guides outfit safe in the knowledge that I'm not promoting a religious organisation.

Christian Democratic leader Reverend Fred Nile said Girl Guides should be "ashamed" at acting disloyally toward the Queen.

"I was disgusted to see the Girl Guides, in a special ceremony, were removing the Queen's portrait from their meeting halls," he said in a statement on Friday.

"They should be ashamed of themselves for this act of disloyalty."

He urged the families of Girl Guide members to threaten a boycott until "they reverse this shameful, disloyal and atheistic policy".
I thought it was a reasonable move but my spiritual guide Fred Nile disapproves so I must also disapprove. I will henceforth be boycotting all Girl Guide cookies, unless they have hash in them.

Methinks that the difference between atheism and secularism appears to have escaped our ol' mate Fred.
