They probably read my original post more closely and decided against recommending NewScientist

I was subscribed to them for a year, and read EVERY magazine virtually from cover to cover (I stopped re-reading the same adverts after a while )

Initially I really enjoyed them. Though, after a while, there seemed to be a few too many 'niggly bits' written in them, that just started to get my goat. After the year was over, I decided not to re-subscribe. I will now rarely buy them. Usually, only when there is a very specific article that I really want to thouroughly read and research. That's just my personal experience.

Well I get New Scientist on my iPad. I can't say I read it every week (no time) but I still enjoy it.

@Keith_W

To be completely honest. They did have a number of great articles in them as well. And, I was also finding it difficult finding the time to keep reading all the weekly issues.

It was probly a bit of both reasons why I eventually stopped buying them.

If you enjoy them, then cool. At times,..I also did find them enjoyable to read.

And we have two new articles on the way, one about psychology and the other about abiogenesis! The peer review stuff is slowly (very very frustratingly slowly) drawing together with science papers (hopefully) from US, UK and Oz universities. Most of the money goes directly to scientists, the authors and the reviewers.

The one magazine I have a subscription to is Skeptic Magazine. Not everything is science based (articles are also on politics, religion), but it's great for the lay person for explaining the frauds of pseudo-science and junk-science.

That one looks really good. Thanks Dawk. Might purchase a subscription.

I'll keep a look out for the Cosmos mag too.

Thanks for all the recommendations.
