Just a quick question. what do religious folk normally say when asked the question "If god created everything, who created god?"

"I did"
At least they should if they are honest. Perhaps "Mummy did" is also acceptable.

They reply he is eternal, unlike anything else which they say demands explanation because it can not conceivably be eternal.
Sorry, but it really is as stupid as that.

God does not need a creator, he is the uncaused cause.

This is the answer i got from a religious friend of mine
![]() "John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. .... No one created God, Jem...He always was, is and will be." I would also like to ask them WHY god exists. whats his purpose... i dont understand how people find peace in religion. "god created us so he could torment us in this world and the next" ... i find Carl Sagans "we are star stuff" much more fulfilling

and the word was "artichoke".
I.E. an excellent example of a deepity is John 1:1.

I have been asking that one of peterm13 for ages. He keeps telling me instead what he is supposed to do for god.

So there is god, who is, and who has been forever and ever and ever. The boredom of nothingness would have been just as profound at any moment in this eternity. Ever wondered why he chose this moment in eternity to create the world?

I did, and I got knighted by the King in 666 BC for doing so. But then he started going haywire and sort of disobeying me and shit, so I just destroyed him in 666 AD and although I got knighted by the King again for saving the galaxy, it was a little too late. Sorry fellows. It won't happen again.
