Default Pithy post-GAC though-ettes

I had such a thought-ette which I was going to post, and it occurred to me that a general thread for such things might be worthwhile? There doesn't seem to be one. If there is, it will be because I have had a man-look and I am sure the mods will do their stuff.

Does a thought-ette differ from a deepity?

And the thought-ette: how nice it is to disagree. Sometimes, anyway.

At a couple of points I was slightly uncomfortable due to feelings and memories of church days.

Now, before I go on, I should qualify that point for anyone who may think I am saying I think the GAC was like a religious service, and especially for any theists who may feel the need to quote-mine. There were a couple of points at which I felt discomfort due to memories of the church thang. But, then, as a consequence of church daze I am also allergic to any kind of regular organised meeting which for a long time has made it difficult for me to go to the local scale modelling society, and which feelings I still struggle against in terms of involvement in PFLAG, for example. I'm not saying GAC is church, just like the ACT Scale Model Society is not church and PFLAG ACT is not church. It's me, not the GAC.

OK, the point. There were a number of points at which I disagreed with the speakers. At some points the speakers said things which indicated that they would disagree with each other. So two things about this. The delight of knowing that (unlike in church) it is OK for me to disagree with the speakers and atheists generally; and the evidence from the fact of disagreement that we are not atheistbots.

There was, on the screen, a quote of Hypatia that is very to the point: "reserve your right to think: for to think wrongly is better than not to think at all" (more or less)

When mentally drafting the first post I was minded to observe that some thought-ettes may indeed also be deepitys, but I wanted to maintain the pithiness.

Descending from the meta-thread back to content: I was also deeply impressed by the idea of the "deepity". I suspect this concept may be a powerful tool of analysis. But any more of that would be more than a thoughtette. I may expend separately. Or maybe not, I may be mysterious.

I may be mysterious.
That would be a pithity.

You weren't the only one, trust me.

It's Sunday night now. One week sine the GAC ended and I reckon I can only now say confidently that I have recovered!

Yep same here.

Saw Davo today, he is looking a lot better. He said it has taken a week to get over it.

I don't doubt it; I last saw davo 'round 2:30 on Monday morning, and he was still keen to party.
