I've just realised that they are a perfect metaphor for religion.
They are shiny on the outside to suck in children. Any more than a small amount is bad for you. And when you look inside they are essential a hollow experience. Burp, pass the Lindt wabbit please waiter...

I like that.
Another idea would be the foil being a Faraday cage and the believers being the chocolate. Their fantasy is making them feel so good they are doing their best to protect themselves from close encounters of the real kind. But dig deeper you will find nothing apart from air. Haha, this is a very funny metaphor. It's also ironic since Easter Eggs are supposed to be a sort of religious symbol, but the religious message has been lost because people care more about food and shiny things.

But like much of religion, including eating only fish on easter friday, it’s about the habit and ritual. Most people have no idea why they do a lot of things, they just do it because they’ve always done it. |

Here I see people claiming that Christians stole the egg and the rabbit pagan symbols of fertility, and on the other side I see my church denouncing these same symbols. What we have in the center is a bunch of corporations trying to sell a product, targeting their adds however they can to maximize their profits; and who's to blame them. I guess the issue of who stole what all depends on where's you're coming from. Pagans say Christians stole their symbols, Christians say Pagans are interjecting their symbols. I think there's a lot of both going on. I don't understand why Atheists would care either way, though, unless you just don't like chocolate. |

I suppose I find myself among the ranks of believers who aren't as concerned with the historical purity of the ritual itself, so much as the feeling of community and family. I do enjoy, however, learning why we do the things we do, as the holidays roll around in turn. As an aside: If man makes religion, then any evil religion is or does, is actually a reflection of man.
