Default I think I've bricked my motherboard flashing the BIOS..

So I was 'on a roll' yesterday having switched to AHCI on my SATA drives, after a couple of BSOD anyway. Fedora booted without any problems though..Great!

So I thought; 'Hell, why not check the drivers and yeah look there's a load of updated BIOS'... hmm which is the newest version...'.

<5 mins passes>

Flash utility reports 'flash successful, OK to restart'... cue a couple of soft resets and the final ominous blank screens with all fans powered and constant flickering of the HDD LED..

Cue me placing my face into my palms then slowly proceeding with the usual BIOS resets etc. No soap. Even after cold boot and several hours patience; I now have an extremely expensive and inefficient air heater instead of my usual Beast PC ;-C

Hopefully this saga will be short and be covered under warranty... although being this far north could be an issue with shipping..

First time I have ever had a problem flashing BIOS in over 20 years! :sadface:

Heh, it is with my motherboard right now. Seems my motherboard wanted the ram for company also.

The first Wednesday, hopefully.

Have you received any progress updates, so far?

Yes, the first!

Each update I received I had to chase, laid back is an understatement ;¬D.

It appears that the there were bent pins on the CPU socket.. which is confusing because unless I caused them when removing the CPU to return it was functioning fine for several weeks before the flashing..

Anyway, I'm eager to have it returned and all this blow over.

I don't know that I buy that excuse! If the pins were bent you would soon know about it trying to re-seat the damn thing.

Precisely, frankly is just sounds like a 'filler' reason i.e. 'we're not sure precisely what caused it but it seems to work now so we'll put this label on it and forget about it..' works fine for lay-peeps but frikken sets off 'worries' for the likes of me and apparently you too! So I aint alone, which is good..

Especially when I move into my new house in three weeks today! one less thing to worry about ;¬D
