Default Church billboard "offensive" to atheists

(Sorry this story is from the Daily Wail ...)

Quote:
Church's 'offensive' anti-atheist billboard is banned by advertising watchdog

A church advertising campaign that depicted atheists as stupid has been banned by a watchdog in South Africa.

Officials ruled a billboard that suggested non-believers considered their existence to be accidental was likely to be found offensive.

The advertisement, which had been erected beside a church in Johannesburg, was pulled down following the ruling by South Africa's Advertising Standards Authority.

Great way to advertise your own ignorance and bigotry (smart move in the Rainbow nation).

I would say that it is as offensive to atheists as it is to any moderately self aware, educated person, including xtians...

Interesting how the Xtians didn't realise that its the image, combined with the words that make it offensive.

See, this is what I [i]hate[i] about censorship campaigns. The theists get their ads pulled for claiming atheists are stupid, which greatly reduces the likelihood of a successful campaign in response.

When we try to respond by pointing out the irrationality of, say, believing the world was created 6000 years ago by a cheeky deity who left scads of dinosaur fossils lying around, someone is going to use this decision as precedent for stopping OUR campaign.

People REALLY need to grow thicker skins.

some of the comments are fantastic, espically the one that wants atheists to describe how the Big Bang created life.

Maybe Biology should be mandatory at schools

The only thing that I find offensive with that ad is the photoshop job on it. Look at his wrists!

The add is a misrepresentation of the facts, but I just sigh and shake my head at the stupidity of it rather than get up tight.

Yup, I'm an atheist and what I find most offensive in this case is the censorship.

In common definitions, I am an accident. Chromosome pairs, sperm, egg, which night, that sort of thing. Or are they saying that even during sex, god likes to keep a hand on things?
