I have to move house by the 27th of April, so can't set up yet

My lights I have had on order for over a month arrived today. 240watts of LED, REALLY BRIGHT, but can't use them

Too bright to look at when 100% ... killer depth on them

You can't really tell how bright they are, as the camera compensates

The first pic is of both the blue and white LED's at the same time, the second of just the blues (which make all the colours POP)

Looking at the lights on, hurts your eyes, will have to run them at around 60% I think. Mr face feels like it's getting sunburnt heh, especially that blue.

Looks like it's coming along well davo , sorry to hear about the enforced delay.

If you are running the lights at less than 100%, will that help their longevity?

Yep, for sure. Their lifespan is around 50,000 hrs from memory.

Consider also they dim up and down peaking at midday, so we are talking around 10+ years

Sounds like an excellent choice in that respect, then.

Yea, also, the 240W LED's are equal to around a 400W Metal Halide Lamp, and runs a lot cooler, so doesn't heat up the tank as badly, nor the room with a red hot ballast.

With the optics, there is much less light pollution, as the light points straight down, thus you get a much higher PAR rating in the tank depths (much stronger light down the bottom). Of course I have also mentioned the dimming etc.

Lots of benefits, more expensive but saves around 50-80% of the electricity bill too over time usage and wattage

Yes, they are actually classed as animals. We don't have to look far to see some really weird stuff on earth

Why the hell would you need such huge LEDs? Just a bit of caution: although LEDs will produce less heat than a metal halide lamp, they need to be cooled quite efficiently, with a heatsink or liquid cooling. They are not as good (on their own) at dissipating heat as a metal halide lamp and their operating temperature range is much smaller than that of a metal halide lamp.

Viva Fish Vegas? FISHEH LAZOR PARTEH? Underwater fog generators? UNDERGLOW NEONS for the plants?
