I found Mick Molloy very funny on radio this morning: "They're just cows!" "Oh we'd better put on our finest, we're dining at the captain's table tonight." etc. Very funny, but raised a good point amongst it: why are they so good at transporting the cattle, but not so good with the refugees?

'Religion: accommodate or confront.' After following the debate within and outside this forum I think that on this issue we should definitely confront. As an interim and as a minimum the animal should be stunned before the throat is cut. Ultimately I hope that we will reach a stage where religious demands and sensitivities are taken out of the equation and we do not have to export live animals at all.

Hi all
Bills to permanently ban our live animal export will be submitted to Parliament on 20th June, one by independent MP Wilkie and Senator Xenophon and another one by the Greens. There is a national protest rally to show support for these bills. If anyone is interested in attending a protest they will be held on Saturday the 18th June between 12 – 2pm at Parliament House in Qld, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS, SA, WA, and NT. And Council Buildings in ALL regional and rural towns across the country. Here are some links with details for the rally: http://www.nationaldayofactiontoendliveexport.com.au/ http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=134411393303379 http://www.animalsaustralia.org/feat...ive-export.php Hope to see some Perth Atheists there!
