While in the USAF I went to a missile school where we had to (among other things) learn binary, octal and one or two other languages. Unfortunately I have pretty much lost the ability to decipher any of them.
I have managed to lose ALL of my COBOL. One or two people-oriented foreign languages are still reasonably well-embedded, and I think I could still do a fair job in BASIC.

For most of us, there's stuff online like this Binary Translator.

I assure you, most of my crypto is crap.

Welcome Robert.

You might find a couple of interesting posts in the science section.

My first semester of college I took fortran, back in the days of punch cards, though it was real cool. Along with that and my AF training I decided to get my first computer, a Tandy something or other. A whopping 4K RAM, and no discs. Had to use a tape deck for apps. No apps available you had to learn Tandy's basic on your own. It's unbelievable how things have progressed. I now have a 1.5TB external hard drive along with another at .5TB.

BTW I checked the "Binary Translator" out and it said "403 Forbidden". Have no idea why I am Forbidden.

Herself and I are both fond of Lehrer: it's a weird household.

I wasn't aware of Word Jazz before, but a quick dab of research showed me Ken Nordine was responsible.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdT7Qlvpf7Q
- that's for my browser, which won't see the code I'm embedding below.

I'll listen later in the morning.
I just went to the site and started to listen. Remember his voice but don't remember the record. Apparently he made some other records with the Word Jazz theme but I never realized it so didn't get any of them.

Hello from the sunny uplands of the Cotswolds, UK.
I was not aware that there was any place in the UK that had "sunny uplands".
I was stationed (with the USAF) at Brize Norton AFB near (or not too far from Oxford)for a while then ended up at Feltwell RAF Station on my second assignment.

Loved England, would like to go back but it's not in the cards for me.

My second puter (32K, tape-loaded) still works.

Sorry about that particular binary translator giving you the 403-ho, but there ought to be others. It's really not worth doing, though: my code content is banal.

Let's not be naughty on Mr Silent Three's welcome mat.

BTW, not only do I have a number of those recordings, but Dog v2.0 is a spayed Koolie cross.
