Their point appears to be that they provide great opportunities to aspiring rugby students to have excellent facilities, first rate gyms and quality coaching. They do appear to have a point.

Yet, in the context of this thread, is my point not completely, bleedingly, obvious??

My point is this: IMO, it is not equitable or just that the tax and transfer system of Australia allows schools such as that one to receive income largely tax free, and additionally be funded at rates per student which tend to exceed those applicable to state schools, especially relatively poor state schools.

An interesting straw in the wind from the Commonwealth Education Minister -

The great post-Gonski debate
Why have recent comments by Federal Education Minister Simon Birmingham caused such a furore? Matthew Knott explains.

Public education is massively important to my mind. The Libs are trying to destroy it. The fundies are trying to infiltrate it. Who are the fighters defending and improving it?
Not many are, but we need to alli together because the amount of money and lack of real debate being thrown at this is unbelievable.

Here's some that are helping to defend public schools:

http://www.saveourschools.com.au/
http://www.publiceducationfoundation.org.au/about-us/
http://www.acsso.org.au/about/

This is a paper on The Defense Of Government Schools Promoting Public Education last year:
http://www.adogs.info/press/paper-pr...p-7-march-2016

And in the US, AronRa and his wife have released a video series on evolution that conforms to national standards that teachers can put on and not fear being attacked for teaching 'monkey science'.
