Halloween

I had a fun Halloween tonight. I heard a group of kids, a dozen or so by the noise, coming down the hill and door-knocking. When they got to the front of the place next door, about 80 metres away, I made my yowie call, amplified by my standing in my darkened portico. It's a long, moaning howl that doesn't sound human at all.

Anyway, the kids stopped, there was a moment's silence and then they ran back up the road screaming. A halloween to remember: I wonder if they'll be back this way next year?

I'd like to borrow that call for when the 7th day adventurists come up the street

Well I had a happy Halloween, I bought sweets, stuck a jack o’lantern on my door so the parents of the children would know our house was OK (no scaring or abuse, leave that for religious teaching ) to come knocking.
The younger children started coming around 6pm and the older children a little later, it was all over by 7.30pm, what a great night we had. In all about 40 children visited our home, 40 very polite grateful, happy children laughing and having fun, I caught up with some of the parents I hadn’t seen in a while, a very satisfying hour and a half.

The cost = $15.
The smiles on the children’s faces and catching up with friends = priceless.

I enjoy this historical unholy night especially the happy part of Happy Halloween and I won’t let the religious steal my fun and pervert history, the cattletick had a crack at it.

Looks like we Rogers had similar experiences, except that we got over 100 kids. They often came in swarms of 10 to 20...

Evidently our street has a good reputation for supplies of the sweet persuasion. Lots that weren't locals - they drive in from surrounding areas - I suspect a social media campaign... T'was a fun night for us parents & my little guy (who was head of disbursements)

Cup your hands around your mouth like a megaphone, tilt your head back and force the loudest moan from as far back down your throat and for as long as you can manage. Go outside between 3 and 4 am and let one rip. If your neighbourhood lights go on and a police patrol comes cruising around, you'll know you have the sound about right.
