Double-Barred Finch wingspread.

Magpie Lark says it's a trifle brisk.

A couple from last Friday. (I've been too crook to bother unloading the camera till now.)

One of the two young magpies surviving from this year's brood of three.

Brave and Swoopy, the butcher-bird couple who "own" us.

And a double-barred finch.

Cape Sundew (Drosera capensis) variety alba - a lack of anthocyanin (the red pigment) makes this little guy flower in white and have clear sticky bits.

It still gets flies though.

Last night,

set forth with camera and dog

seeking

the wily

possum.

It was good to feel well enough to do the walk once more.

Back from a few days in the mountains. Check out the awesome male bowerbird, no doubt looking for something blue to add to its nest and the most imperious kingfisher.

Just back from another brisk promenade with Dog v2.0. It's ten degrees out, and I managed to raise some perspiration, thanks to the cracking pace the pup sets.

A temperature inversion, the same one that gave us the fog blanketing only the lower parts of our valley, is probably responsible for the doofage and occasional DJ hollers clearly audible from the not-quite-a-disco-but-it's-what-we've-got, a couple of km away.

And, of course, there's hares and possums.

Tonight's Possum Pin-Up is young Canteloupe, a 2017 newbie, who hasn't got the necktie mark of an adult scent gland yet.

He/she posed nicely by the tree, and Dog didn't lunge, so we all parted on good terms.

This morning's critters:

0417 - This little chap's becoming a regular. May as well call him/her Tractor.

Next moment - Tractor decides it's time to go.

0514 - Dog v2.0 at eye level on the embankment, watching a road maintenance crew.

0846 - Perv, the Pale-Headed Rosella, comes by for his customary peek through the window.

Arthur, one of three juveniles currently in our magpie family, a little the worse for wear after an attack by one of next door's SEVEN FUCKING UNCONFINED CATS. Grr.

On last night's walk, Tractor the possum goes up the pole as we approach...

... then, into his high-wire act. Yes, as suspected, Tractor is a boy poss.
