To see just how bad things can get, google "Tea Party summer camps" and read all the associated articles and links. I'm sure this is how Jim Jesus and certain radical rightist politicians would like to see the school chaplaincy program develop, not to mention the paedophile pervs it will attract.

Your mention of physical scars caused me to picture the fun kids could have with practice crucifixions at summer camp.

I'd campaign for that.

Watch those religulous fools fall over themselves trying to defend it if it was actually put to Parliament.
It should have an RC rating and fucking banned. I've heard about stuff which is RC that isn't even a billionth as vile and gruesome as the bible.
I have very little respect for church "officials" - yeah... if it wasn't for Christians who go to church, these assholes would be locked up and medicated, like they deserve to be.

Sanhedrin seems to have done a hit and run job. Only one post after his OP then nothing more.

It has never been before the review board. If someone sent them a bible, wonder if they would have to review it? No doubt stacked with christians or other religious types.

There was a youngish fellow on the board years ago, saw some show, maybe 'The Factory' or some youth/music show interview him.

Not really a great proponent of banning and burning books. The RC Church instigated the 'Index Liborum Prohibitorum,' first issued by the Congregation of the Inquisition or Holy Office, 1557. the Index was abolished in 1966.

The Nazis held a book burning orgy, invoking Martin Luther's nationalist diatribe.

I had my own one. I heard the demons surging out as I watched about ten Bibles in different translations, burn. I kept my mouth closed. I later seriously wished I'd kept one for reference. Found one later, in a box,a Thompson Chain Reference King James Version with its lovely literary style, and a concordance, which is handy.

Kids should be taught critical thinking, the skeptical stance.
