ImageUploadedByTapatalk1358466984.250634.jpg there hasn't been an actual funny pic in this thread for while. Here's a present I bought for myself today. Interestingly on the bottom of the box it says "This is not a toy". What the hell else would it be

Maybe mods could change the thread title to gender equality or gender inequality in sport or something like that?

![]() It's done. I looked at splitting it (again??? ) but around two thirds are gender equality sports and the earlier stuff is sexism. 480 posts would take a while to trawl through.Hopefully everyone involved understands. If you don't, I don't care. ![]() I don't get paid that much.

My thoughts on women is sport....
A reason why women's sport gets overlooked is because people are only interested in 'the best' - the best marathoner, footballer, cricketer etc. I cannot say anything for softball, cricket etc. but in things like football, cycling and running men have an obvious physiological/hormonal advantage. Men can easily build muscle whilst losing bodyfat, making them ultimate athletes. Women often struggle at this due to lack of testosterone. Additionally male hormones are better suited to endurance sports eg. Tour De France and Marathons. Case in point: a marathoner a few years ago (elite level) underwent gender reassignment (male>female). In the early hormonal stages of reassignment, the runner would still be training. As she took her female hormones, guess what? She slowed up, and not another variable had changed. Additionally, females sporting careers can obviously be hampered should they choose to have babies - running is almost impossible when very pregnant. Timing compounds this as a woman's most active years are often her most fertile, for all sporting ability can start to taper off after the age of 30-35. That being said, according to the results of last years City to Surf I was beaten by 960-ish females. So training, diet, lifestyle and physiology can all have an impact. Mass media want to sell 'the best' and in the eyes of many this is usually the mens category of whatever. Should females have more televised sporting coverage? Absolutely!!
