Bananaby.
One of TEVW's overseas FB friends initially misread his name as "Babydaddy Joyce".

On the subject of private lives being private, let's do a little historical comparison, courtesy of Independent Australia:

Quote:
Guardian Press Gallery columnist Katharine Murphy tried to explain the media silence in a Tweet on the day Markson’s original story came out:
Quote:
‘There's something of a convention in Aus politics: unless there's criminality, coercion or abuse involved, private lives are private.’
This is nonsense, of course. There is no such convention — “something” or otherwise.

The media presented stories about Gareth Evans’ affair with Cheryl Kernot and Jim Cairns’ affair with Junie Morosi when there was not a hint of criminality, coercion, or abuse. The mainstream media also enjoyed reporting on the private life of Julia Gillard while she was prime minister, even outrageously asking her whether her hairdresser partner Tim Mathieson was a homosexual. The ABC then destroyed any notion of impartiality or discretion when it aired a tasteless and unfunny sitcom based on her supposed private life, called ‘At Home With Julia’.

If what Murphy really meant was that there was sort of a convention to only report on the private lives of politicians if it was in the public interest, then the Joyce case clearly was.
Yep, like the US representatives who are loudly homophobic, right up to the moment they're sprung in an airport toilet doing a bit of bloke/bloke enjoyment, Barnyard's squawks and bleats re heteromonogamy and religious family values are a backdrop against which his wayward dong stands rampant and well-lit.

And, that got stupid really quickly, seriously what exactly is wrong with these people? First we shouldn't get involved in someone's private life, then they want to make a law against it?

Quote:
THE Barnaby Joyce affair has raised the prospect of Australian laws banning bosses and staff getting close and personal after hours.

Independent member for Indi Cathy McGowan today raised the prospect of an Australian sex ban to apply to MPs, but stopped short of offering legislation.

I mean seriously, are these people idiots? First, making a law against it won't stop it, you are just making a law that people will break. Second, there wouldn't be a need for a law if these people, who are supposed to be the leaders of our country, had the least smidgen of ethics and secular morality in them. The fact they don't appear to have that smidgen means we should just stop electing them, just how hard is it to keep your cock in your pants?

Quote:
The legislation was primarily aimed at ending sexual harassment of junior staff and helping victims make complaints, including legal advice.

Isn't there already a law against sexual harassment? So making a new law that essentially bans the exact same thing there is already a law against is going to do what? Nothing, thought as much.

Naturally they are just following America's example;

Quote:
The pacesetting move was a law banning sex between members of Congress and staff this week passed unanimously by the US House of Representatives.

Hint to the Australian parliament, if you are doing something just because the US has already done it, you are probably making a mistake, next thing you know we will be withdrawing from the Paris peace accord. Stop copying America, at the moment that are being led by a conservative (supposedly) buffoon backed up by a fundamental religious political par.....oh fuck what am I saying, sigh!

On the radio this morning it was noted that, when it became excessively obvious that Barnaby was having an extra-marital affair with one of his staff, a job (paying a 6 figure salary) which didn't previously exist suddenly, and conveniently, became available with one of Barnaby's colleagues.... and when Barnaby's girlfriend left that position, the job ceased to exist.

THIS, if true, is very much in the public's interest.

I think it is very much in the Nation's interest that it is reported as soon as it becomes known when a senior government minister has a blackmailable secret.
Who knows what foreign power or media mogul has not requested favours to keep a lid on it? Add to that list big COAL miners/ who is to say his fondness for lumps of coal may not have other motivators?
