Default Baa Baa Barnarby

And there is another hat in the ring for a parliamentarian with dual citizenship.

Barnaby Joyce may be a Kiwi by descent

The rough run down is that his father was born in NZ, and may have still been a Kiwi at the time of Barnaby's birth. While Barnaby was born in Tamworth, the NZ law at the time was that anyone born overseas to a Kiwi father was an automatic NZ citizen. So unless Barnaby explicitly renounced it prior to entering parliament, then he would still be a NZ citizen.

Again, I point out the difference between the Green's reactions and everyone else's. The Greens stood down and resigned from parliament, everyone else seems to be trying to challenge it and show that it doesn't matter. Both Ludlum and Waters didn't know that they were dual citizens, and the same seems to be for most of the others.

Apparently one Labor MP called out 'Baa Baa' when Barnaby walked in to Question Time.

Another called out 'Do the Haka'.

Barnaby Joyce! It's fantastic. As Nelson from the Simpsons says in his singsong voice, HAAA-HA!

I have been at work all morning (since 4) and as I'm leaving and checking FB, someone posted the news to my wall as a meme.
Oh Jibbers Crabst, I haven't laughed so hard in ages.
(not so much the meme, just the fact that it has happened to Barnaby, ROFLMFAOWTFBBQ)

Well it's been settled that Barnaby Joyce almost certainly has dual citizenship......but;

Quote:
But Mr Joyce is not budging an inch. He not only is defying the evidence by staying in Parliament, he is snubbing convention by staying in the ministry. The difference between him and Mr Canavan is not clear under the law.

Mr Joyce and the Prime Minister are hoping the High Court, in considering the status of a number of MPs and senators, will somehow clear the Deputy PM of the need to quit.

The Prime Minister has boldly forecast: “The Leader of the National Party, the Deputy Prime Minister, is qualified to sit in this House, and the High Court will so hold.”
I am not sure why the green senators had to quit if Barnaby can stay, whether or not you are aware of breaking the law is no excuse. The court might take that into consideration by not imprisoning him for inadvertent treason I guess, but if he has clearly broken the electoral law, albeit unknowing and is allowed to stay surely all the others can just walk back in since they were also unaware of their position!

I thought section 44 of the Australian constitution was pretty clear in regards to this?

A legal eagle may be required.

Anyway, #PutYourKiwisOut
