Default Family Lawyer

Hello,
I have never joined a forum before and I hope I am doing this right!
I have a question which I was hoping someone could answer.
Does anyone know of a good (Atheist) family lawyer in Hobart?

Hello HobartGeorge,

Some years ago the AFA used the service of a lawyer by the name of James Crotty in a successful attempt to have atheist signs placed on Tasmanian buses. (Can't thank him enough)

Iím unsure if he could be of direct help but if not, he may be able to put you onto an atheist family lawyer.

It appears this is his website: http://jamescrotty.com.au

And it appears this is his email: james@jamescrotty.com.au

And for good measure, this appears to be his contact SMS 0419 302 239

I would suggest that if you contact him, to say you know of him through his dealings with the Atheist Foundation of Australia and signs on buses.

You will notice I've used the word 'appears' quite often. It is because I'm unsure if this is the James Crotty we know and love.

Good luck

David

Hi HobartGeorge,

Welcome to the forum

By far the most essential thing is for you to find a good family lawyer.

One with ethical, technical and people skills.

If you can find one of those, you may not need an atheist lawyer, however much you might feel, at first instinct, that you do. Lawyers are often called upon to act for folks they do not agree with in relation to all manner of things. It comes with the territory. Stronger than that - it's essential to maintainance of the rule of law.

A fundy, who truly believes in some gawd-guided/inspired/infaliible institution as being above the rule of law, would not -in my view- have true fidelity to the rule of law. Such a person would be disqualified, in my view, on legal ethics grounds. By no means, however, are all religious folk, and "cultural" religious folk, of that ilk.

I've no insights, however, into the Hobart profession.

And of course, Blue Lightning, that is how it should be. But, on the other hand, religion can do strange things to all kinds of folk. I'd personally go for an atheist lawyer if that is possible, assuming "ethical, technical and people skills" are all in order.

There is, most certainly, one thing there, David, on which we heartily agree:
