Hi all, I came to the AFA forums from a suggestion by @shockwave on twitter. I am interested in knowing whether there are any groups already organised against the school chaplaincy program in the ACT. If so, can someone please give me a lead. If not, is there anyone from Canberra (or region) interested?

I am not aware of any State based groups organised against the NSCP, but there is a loose national collective.
Check out this thread: http://www.atheistfoundation.org.au/...ead.php?t=2839 This Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/stopnscp/ Dave “the happy” Singer’s social media site: http://www.notochaplains.org/ Ron Williams High Court Challenge http://www.highcourtchallenge.com/ and lastly, my summary of the issue http://www.godless.biz/stopnscp/ |

Hi Chris,
I have been compiling information on the school chap program and the teaching of creationism in schools now for a couple of years. There are no specific groups in the ACT aimed at the Chap program, but there is a small atheist group, and then ofcourse the skeptics society. Hope that helps Dustin

Slothhead,
Would be interested to know more about the extent of the Chaplaincy program in ACT public schools. We're still trying to decide whether local public or private school is the best option for our daugther. |

We're still trying to decide whether local public or private school is the best option for our daugther. I have noticed that the ACt Education Act 2004 allows for parents to ask a public school to provide religious education for their children. http://www.det.act.gov.au/__data/ass...ls_updated.pdf Is that the extent of religions influence in ACT public schools? |
