I have a tramway at the bottom of my garden ( as one does) and the Magpies descend in spring and rip down the overhead wiring to weave into their nests.... I spoke to an Ornithologist about this and she said they like thin wire, they steal it form where ever they can to "Fortify" their nests.... I just put out a box of off cuts now and they seem happy with that...
Cue the Thieveing magpie overture....

It must be near midnight. The possum has just jumped over on to the tin roof. It will climb the TV aerial and fuck it up. I will have to get up and cut that branch on the big old tee tree.

Serves me right for loving nature red in tooth and claw.
I can relate what is now a funny story regarding a possum. A mate lived in a leafy suburb and had just done some tiling and asked me around to see his handi work. We are sitting on the lounge, beer in hand and something starts dripping down the chimney of his open fire... This guy is a German, a typical one - efficient, organised etc and says "Its that expletive deleted possum in my chimney" and with that races outside and grabs his garden hose and starts squiring water into the smoke hood...
Well the Possum rather than go up goes down. Drags about 10Kg of soot with it, races around the room then scarpers up the curtains and along the curtain rods, my mate is chasing the thing with a broom its shredding curtains and scattering black soot everywhere, eventually it runs out the front door.... Fortunatley his insurance covered the cost of the cleanup and repairs, I got the job of making up a possumproof "spark arrester" for his chimney...
