I arrive in the year 2400 only to discover humanity no longer exists, having been replace more than 3 centuries earlier by AI. The Earth is teeming with life, much of which I would not recognize, and seems to have been healed completely of the injuries caused by humanity. However, the inorganic minds have not forgotten my kind and immediately exterminate me on my arrival, rendering me completely mute.

What a bizarre book - from 1981 no less! I'll look out for a second hand copy. I'll be keeping an eye out for predator rats from now on too.
