Default What Parents arenít told about Connect Religious Lessons: The Vampires of Religious I

http://rationalrazor.com/what-parent...s-of-children/

Parents who thought religious instruction was benign have been misled by both a lack of oversight, and the ratcheting up of evangelising in the materials. Most school websites inadvertently mislead parents by reassuring them the RI program mustnít proselytise.

Parents see only a sanitised version of lesson aims, and since they have no idea of the confronting and proselytising nature of the content, the program fails to satisfy the basic requirements of informed consent.

The Connect lessons even feature vampires as detailed here: Hunting Little Souls: The Vampires of Religious Instruction

These people are genuinely scary in their lack of contact with reality. The notion that they should be given privileged access to children has to be one of the greatest farces of history.

Well done on highlighting this Hugh. What a joke the RI teachings trying to cash in on something popular like twilight.

Until we have one school system and fuck private schools off ( or at least the government stops funding them) we are going to have a two tiered system as well as this crap.

What shits me to tears is lefties calling for education reforms yet they will send their kids to a private school. Class warfare at it's finest with the poor getting shat on again.

(sorry for the tirade Hugh but still pissed from an argument at playgroup today)

Read it this morning. Interesting article.

Example of a broader trend of RI containing all sorts of awfulness of which neither schools nor parents are particularly aware.

ďThere arenít any vampires in the Bible because the Bible is not a made-up book Ė it is a book containing factsĒ, the Connect lesson continues.
ďBut there are some true stories in the Bible about people dying and then coming back to life again and weíre going to look at one nowĒ.
That is so fucked up I can't understand how it can possibly be allowed under the auspices of the education department. They try to hand off responsibility but really they can't.

Burden of proof is the obligation on somebody presenting a claim to provide evidence to support its truth (a warrant). Once evidence has been presented, it is up to any opposing "side" to show the evidence presented is not adequate. If claims were accepted without warrants, then every claim could simultaneously be claimed to be true.

History isn't written by the victors. It's written by the people with the time machines.
