Bloody hell. At present the survey is showing twice as many people dismissive as alarmed or concerned.

Probably because bloggers like Andrew Bolt thought it was a good idea to rally the troops and give "dismissive" a big lead.

Yet if any of them gave it some thought, they'd realize a poll will probably be taken at the end of the show to see if minds where changed. And if they don't get the same turnout to inflate the "dismissive" vote, then it would appear many minds have changed throughout the program LOL.

Not sure I'll be able to sit through that show. I hate this whole attitude that climate science is a matter of opinion and everyone has a say in it. The physics and mathematics don't take sides. And that's whats published in the literature, none of this political BS.

I completely agree with you ABridgeTooFar, and I think this attitude is one of the big failings of democracy - in that it allows morons to turn factual issues into matters of opinion. Climate change isn't the only area where this has happened, but it's one of the ones that concerns me the most.

Ditto.

I've had this discussion with several colleagues and friends. In general they're very dismissive of scientists and the facts we're presented with in the media (unless it supports what they want to believe). I usually hear a number of the following things:
  1. Scientists and their methods can't be trusted
  2. Such and such a geologist (the only trustworthy field of science) said that climate change is perfectly normal and outside of our control
  3. Volcanos & solar activity!!
  4. Scientists have a vested interest in scaring the public, so they can get more funding - WTF?
  5. It's a conspiracy of the left
  6. In the opinion of Jones...
