More clues... "loose" clues...

Think Chinese mata hari; a leading, and still-alive, character from Game of Thrones; a book by Stieg Larsson.

I think that you are thinking of the "Spruce Goose" that Howard Hughes built? It was made of timber and is the largest plane ever built.
One of the nicknames of the U2 was "Useless Deuce" (I looked it up later). I remember now, I watched a documentary about the U2 many years ago and I'm pretty sure I misheard that as "Useless Goose".

I think the Spruce Goose still has the largest wingspan of any plane ever built. An amazing piece of aviation history.

I donít think itís a bunch of grapes, as thatís ďaciniformĒ (which I recently learned via A Word A DayĒ). A doughnut would be better described as ďtoroidalĒ. So, Iím going to take a guess that itís B: Pouch?

I'm going with C. because somewhere from the one year of compulsory Latin at grammar school I think hasta is Latin for spear.
