Hi im goli and i would consider myself a liberal christian

I guess one of the things that most concerns me about athiesm is the number of intolerent and uninformed athiests. I think this is very dangerous and that many people do not realise the amount of violence and persecution that has been caused in the past because of athiesm not to mention innocent lives lost in the name of enforcing athiesm. However I truely respect athiests that have a solid foundation for their atheism and think that Christians can learn a lot from these people. thats me in a nutshell

Hi mate.

If your god asked you to kill someone, would you do it? Simple YES or NO is all that is needed.

Provide evidence for these claims please.

Also, what about the children in Phillipines who are being crucified to commemorate Jesus and his death? Like the jews and disabled people gassed by Adolf Hitler (a Roman Catholic) and Pastor Benny Hinn abusing the general public, as well as the Phelps family with their "God Hates Fags" parades? Are you suggesting we should be tolerant to them too? Then we talk about going way back to medieval times, to when Galileo thought the earth was not flat, and your church hated him for that, and imprisoned him.

When I was at school, I was bullied by christians - being autistic (Asperger syndrome) was a major contributor I reckon, but a lot of times on camps I was bullied and kept awake by fuckwits who wanted to preach the name of jesus.

You really need to look around in the "News and Current Affairs" section of these forums too. You may be in for a shock.

Hi goli,

Welcome to the forums.

I note that you respect the 'solid foundation' for atheism. What do you understand the word 'atheist' to mean? This is the definition used around here:

Quote:
Atheism is the acceptance that there is no credible scientific or factually reliable evidence for the existence of a god, gods or the supernatural.
Thats it. There is no more to it than that.

I also note your assertion that unnamed person(s) have been or are 'enforcing athiesm'. Please let us know if you have some other definition in mind and are applying that to the un-named person or persons?

Cheers,

Stubby

There you go, fixed it for you, including the correct spelling of atheist (one of the rare instances of i before e ).

I could almost suspect your post of being a Poe.

I'd like to think you could learn a lot from this forum if you cared to take the time and I'm hoping you're not just here to proselytise and preach. That would be a shame.

We do have a section of the forum for believers, called Fantasy Island.

And now, a word from our sponsors. Please read the following carefully, taking particular note of Wolty's List. Cheers.

And a quick look at our reserved spot for belief-based discussion, Fantasy Island, includes Wolty's List, a sort-of "things we've seen before" for those of faith.

If you've got questions, please ask.

Enjoy the forums. We hope to see plenty from you in discussions.

Have fun.

Hi Goli. Are you hear to learn? It seems like you have a lot to learn. I hope you have the courage to hang about for the education you are about to acquire. I wont be surprised if you don't. Id like you to surprise us and show us that you are a person of reason. We dont see many reasonable xtians around here. It would be novel.

Me too, those athiests damn well scare the krap out of me as well!

What innocent lives would you be referring to?

When was atheism enforced not to be confused with enforcing nationalism or communism?

@goli, I assure you I can be quite intolerant of playing loose with facts (see the chaplaincy thread) at least until I find and grant that I am wrong myself or the other party corrects their errors. It works like that.

Beyond that, welcome. If you really want to know more about atheism then questions are answered here by a range of well informed and enquiring people.
