Woot! The Yays have taken the lead and they're are increasing. The ACL might one day learn not to bomb surveys. It never works for them ImageUploadedByTapatalk HD1351771795.383570.jpg

So much for dealing ethically with ACL, Jim Jesus and his ilk. Placing yourself in a situation of disadvantage is foolish in the extreme.

And this morning's results.
A total turn around from 12 hours ago when ACL was bombing it.

Good for them. 'At a time of my choosing' is an option I think humanity would do well to wrap its head around. Goodness knows we're not really all that horrified by the ways in which people are robbed of such dignity.

When the time comes, when she has no quality of life, when she cannot enjoy simple things like a hug or a nap without feeling pain, when I cannot find a cure for her ills, I will say goodbye to my little furry baby cat and give her the dignity of a peaceful death.

Humans should be afforded the same dignity.

Those who know what's best for us choose not to acknowledge the word VOLUNTARY as an adjective relating to euthanasia. They prefer to compare it with Nazi extermination camps and part of the eugenic process as it relates to humankind, in fact most of these people seem to see the two e-words as being synonymous.

It also seems that most of those opposing voluntary euthanasia have no difficulty with the concept of putting down their ill or inconvenient pets, but the religious prohibition is insurmountable when it comes to humankind. I think that their lack of empathy with those who've had enough of life arises from the way they see their rather nasty deity and a belief that suffering is good for the "soul".

It's clear from various polls that close to 80% of us in Oz support the notion of voluntary euthanasia and the removal of laws preventing loved ones from assisting a person to die. It seems that the majority of parliamentarians are against allowing this freedom because it would lessen their power over the community in some small way, particularly when viewed against the increasingly restrictive laws enacted in recent decades. It would go against the flow of their perception of societal progress, a step in the wrong direction.

Unless we voluntary euthanasia supporters can find a way to monster the pollies in the same way as the bible-bashing pro-lifers seem to be able to do, they will continue to simply ignore the subject as of no real interest to the community. They have done exactly that with we ADF superanuants seeking indexation fairness by fobbing us off with meaningless responses and making soothing noises to the public. I've proposed silent demonstrations with small placards at Anzac, Long Tan and Remembrance Day commemorations, but the ESOs seem to think that this would be sacrilegious and not worth serious consideration. I don't see that sitting passively and waiting with fingers crossed is much of a plan.

The more I have had conversations with the extremely elderly or heard second hand from their immediate family the more I think there is a need for some kind of euthenasia access.

I guess we are living longer and just getting exposed to more end of life degenerative suffering. I have no idea how often it would be actually used but I beleive something ought to be in place.
