It would be kind of interesting if groups around the country held lead up get togethers before the next GAC. We could bubble some ideas around and create a collection of possible forms and agendas and then people that wanted to run one would put a notification up here or some site associated with the GAC. e.g. "Pre Gac workshop in Brisbane : The effects of the LNP on religious freedom and a survey of the alternatives. Brisbane Library" and so on. Perhaps such events could aim to produce output to bring to the GAC, or little videos and/or blog posts to create more background for the GAC.

Sorry i was away for away for a while, been busy

I can Imagine a convention suited for families and believers, woudn't it be good if there was a showcase of science attributes to society.
Show what critical thinking and logical reasoning benefited the social structure and understanding.

Also jumping castles, pony rides and free give away showbags that include science paraphernalia lol.

We could get guest speakers, but why not show the great influence atheism offered to understanding nature.

This is quite different from the GAC format as it stands. Having ponies and show bags etc doing all that and having VIP guest speakers might even be a little disjointed.

You might need to start up another thread for this idea of yours as a different type/style of event.

Would you like me to create a new thread for you? (I'd be doing it tomorrow morning) and you could devise something in there to start working on.

Ok maybe the pony rides was too much..

But i dont see the harm in having science exhibits, some philosophy and guest speakers.

Science and "logic" philosophy is our reasoning and singularity.

There might be some believers who attend, maybe some indecisive people may attend.
Open the convention to suit everyone, not just a bunch of people labelling themselves as atheist to be an excuse to gather and get drunk and party.

Show some philosophy contradicting the morals in the bible, show some science exhibits that have influenced mans understanding and improved the quality of life etc.

Its how people present their views and understanding, why hold a gathering with one or two speakers that most people would yawn about?

Open the convention to a wider audience, have some exhibits, philosophies and basically presenting "this is why we are atheists"

Hey there San, I missed both the GACs
But apparently they did some really cool stuff and had great speakers, and all sorts of lovely things.
There is a thread, where some of our mods would take the time to put up clips and the like, so that we could catch up with the things we missed, it a cool thread

In this people that went would tell us about stuff and there was lots of ideas for the next oneThen we could ask them about things, and they would explain, and generally be very helpful and we were having a jolly old time.
But it somehow got filled up with rubbish and ponies.
Pity, you would have liked it.

The main coverage is still on the cutting table being edited into the final release.

The videos you saw are parts of what i'm guessing will be the end result.

So what did you think of the videos you watched? Interesting?

Fuck sake...

This is all im getting from you guys, if i dont agree or add an idea then i am against you. Grow up.

I mean seriously, i have said pony rides etc, but all i hear in response is remarks to pony rides. Is that the formula for the AFA?
Apply narcisism and how great it was and imply a rhetorical remark from a person?

How about this, i have been an atheist debating pastors and priests but never heard of AFA, what the is the go there?

Wheres the expansion?, why the fuck havent i heard of you, i can tell you the next christian fete'... but i wouldnt be able to tell you the next AFA convention or even if there was one.

Im not pissing your acheivements because basically i havent seen them, nor has anyone else.
Thats whats pissing me off... wheres the publicity?
Is it a secret group only for members? ( i am a paid member btw)

Im in cairns... can i do something up here to expand atheism? can i get support?

Who organises the GAC?... how can i contact him/her?
