Looking forward to the census results asap. Will it only be the sex data at this stage?

I also note the ABS indicates the public consultation for the next census in 2016 will commence in October. Time to ramp up the campaign again?

Well done David and all the AFA members, it might be hard to quantify how much the No Religion campaign actually affected the final numbers, but every little bit helps.

ABC 1 news just had an article on the 2011 Census results and mentioned that a higher number of people marked no religion, but they also mentioned that the Muslim religion has increased by 40% since last census!

I still think there's a lot of "cultural christians" who don't go to church or hold faith as such, but identify as belonging to the group they were Christened under. In fact, I did just the very same thing the first census I completed, when I was a youngster.

It's my hope that they change the order and wording of the religion question, so that people are offered the choice of declaring that they don't follow a religion before they are prompted to choose a religion (if they indicate that they are actually religious).

As for modifying the religion (or any other) question, lets hope the government funds the ABS this time.

I'm fairly well convinced that "lot" is in fact the majority of "religious" people!

I think it's actually a hard question to clarify, as it ideally needs to get deep down into multiple questions and the persons actual beliefs on several levels, many of whom have never actually given it any thought or consideration before!

Dave.

I just find it nearly impossible to navigate the ABS web site. I can't find logical references to data or guides to where you should look. Anyone located table B14 anywhere?

and the catholics are the worst for this, hence why catholics are the only group with more people than 'no religion' in the last census.

my opinion
