If they would pray against Justin Beiber or One Direction I could see a point, but Gaga ...

From Wikipedia:
David Yonggi Cho (formely known as Paul Yonggi Cho) is a Korean Christian minister. He is Senior Pastor and founder of the Yoido Full Gospel Church (Assemblies of God), the world's largest congregation with a membership of 1,000,000 (as of 2007[update]).[1] Cho still conducts two services of the seven the church holds a day; they are so heavily attended that people often must arrive an hour early to have a seat. And they could only manage to get 300 to the prayer meeting? Pathetic.

In many ways I think this demonstrates the problem with news these days. I have this view that the quality of news is deteriorating, but perhaps that is a myth. Stories like this, that effectively say that a fringe religion holds silly views only make the news because they'll create strong responses in people. Actually we know fringe groups exist, and we know that they'll do silly things. Giving them attention seems only detrimental to society, and with no benefit (other than, perhaps, entertainment). Imagine what would have happened, for example, if that pastor in the US who burnt the Koran just wasn't given any news coverage. It's like the theory of why you shouldn't negotiate with terrorists - it's just giving undeserved legitimacy to their concerns.
