well, last 2 days have been under an injury could; anxiety has led to some bingeing ; essentially, the 91km led to inflammation of my left-hand illio-tibial band, which basically causes knee pain on long runs. became very worried about this. saw physio late this arvo about it. got a diagnosis, is fixable for event and can be worked on over time (I have a bio-mechanical imbalance that causes excess tension on outside of left thigh)

With 17 days til marathon hopefully the bingeing stays away so I can be in the best shape possible.

@cnums: in the short-term is it possible to at least partially replace running with something lower-impact? If you haven't already, of course.

well I need to keep the legs ticking over and heart rate up; have cancelled all longer runs though (they aren't needed in taper anyway). May substitute for a session with an elliptical trainer every now and then, but so far the treatment is working. went for 10.2k today, had some discomfort in last km but there was no limping afterwards, gave it a massage when I got home, all is well. Have another appointment with physio wednesday before marathon, if required he may do some needling, ultrasound etc.

I don't run, but I power walk with a loaded backpack. Lower impact on injuries, and of course only load up what your weak body part can stand. Going up hill will increase your heart rate very satisfactorily! If it gets too easy, just add another encyclopedia to your pack.

i also had a problem with belimia. it was not because i had body issues it was actually a self punishment kind of thing, i had a very verbally abusive boyfriend a few years ago and he constantly made me feel like shit. after a fight (not really a fight, more him just telling me how worthless and dumb i was) i would feel so bad that the only thing that made me feel better was to throw up. i dont understand it myself but it was like throwing up would get rid of all the dumb inside me. i know it makes no sense but he was ssooo abusive it was all i could do to help myself. i left him 6 years ago and have not made myself throw up since

well...now I have the flu! My completion of said marathon will make for an excellent storyline for the next disney movie. all running except for 3km jogs with runners club on wed today and next week, and a 5k on sunday morning has been cancelled. hopefully this dramatic reduction in mileage and the physical therapy will get me to finish line, in whatever time
