French court to decide if sex toys are porn
News.com.au
The manager of a French shop selling sex toys went on trial overnight to determine whether he is violating the country's pornography laws by selling his products within 200 metres of a school.

The manager of the Love Shop, 41-year-old Nicolas Busnel, faces up to two years in prison and a 30,000 euro ($37,000) fine after two Christian groups filed complaints that his shop is within 90 metres of an elementary school. The two plaintiffs, the National Confederation of Catholic Family Associations and the CLER Love and Family association, also are asking for 10,000 euros each in damages.

Mr Busnel denies that the Paris shop, at 69 rue Saint Martin, sells pornography and says its products are simply of an erotic nature. "There are as many definitions of pornography as there are people," according to his lawyer, Richard Malka.

As the trial opened, Mr Malka said that limiting the sale of sex toys within 200 metres of educational institutions would mean the only places they could be sold would be "cemeteries, parks and on train tracks."

But Henri de Beauregard, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said there was little doubt that the shop's products were of a pornographic nature. "You can say that a sex shop is a 'love shop,' that a dildo is a 'sex toy' ... but these are just words," he said. "The simple truth is that we have here a sex shop that sells pornography."

The trial opened with Mr Malka making a motion for the case to be dismissed as unconstitutional, but it was rejected by the court. The court was set to hear testimony from witnesses including Mr Busnel and a sexologist.

About time some one acted to protect the children and it shouldn't stop here. How about fruit shops? Zuchinis invite you use them in immoral ways, if we can't ban them, which would be my preference, at least move them out of sight. Bananas while not being as user friendly in their unpeeled state and overly prone to breakage when peeled are still a problem, they are so suggestive. Melons, nuts, peaches an cherries need to be renamed or not labelled as their names have been appropriated for lewd purposes.

People should stop driving at elementary schools. I mean their headlights might induce sexual thoughts and could be classified as pornography.

Yes exactly, obviously a very wise man. As threatening to society as women thinking about thinking sex is, there are other issues. What else might a bad wife, a disgruntled wife think of when slicing up phallic food?

I don't think it is practical for men to do the work of women. If woman aren't kept busy they may start thinking and that is always a bad thing. What I propose is a cloth bag to cover the offending food when sold. The woman can take the food home and cut it up whilst it remains covered by the bag. Covering woman's heads with cloth has served well to keep men's lust in check, it is time we protected our woman from thoughts of sex or mutilation.

If the court case is successful then drivers of Edsel Fords would also be banned from going past schools.
Quote:-
The Edsel's front-end ensemble as it eventually appeared bore little resemblance, if any, to the original concept. Roy Brown, the original chief designer on the Edsel project, had envisioned a slender, almost delicate opening in the center. Engineers, fearing engine cooling problems, vetoed the intended design, which led to the now-infamous "horsecollar." Some have speculated that the car failed to sell because its grille resembled a vulva.
