Ok, found that edit search engines option Mr. B, deleted every option other than google, still searching with yahoo through the address bar!

Didn't have yahoo toolbar showing, but in program manager found "yahoo browser plus" removed but still searching with yahoo from address bar input. Homepage is mozilla homepage which is a google search! Where is emoticon for pulling ones hair out!
 It's no big deal I can just use the search bar, just a bit strange!

Update, still had no joy with the yahoo default... I am certain I have cleared away any yahoo toolbar etc. crap. Going to try uninstall and reinstall firefox, will let you know if that sorts it.

Yahoo default search solved!
 Turns out, it was in the about:config section. Had to change the "keyword" value, which was set to yahoo. Just hit reset and it went back to the default search engine, which I set as Google. Phew!

Watch out for the FREECODER firefox plugin - it's great and has transcoding built in, but feels obliged to fill your browser with shit "extras", like hijacking the "New Tab" button to take you to a custom search page and some other nasties.
PS - Just fixed my hijacked new tab button with https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...don/newtaburl/
