We try to maintain a fair exchange of ideas here. AFA is an atheist forum, primarily for atheists (people who do not believe in a god or gods).

Some people take advantage of our hospitality, and use our forum as a pulpit (or worse, as a toxic waste dump for prejudice, hatred or questionable business activities). Still, we try...

The members have an expectation that atheist/atheist matters can be carried on without interjection or interruption from believers. For matters involving dialogue with believers, Fantasy Island evolved.

Fantasy Island is also the place where extraordinary and unfounded claims of the supernatural and fringe science may go, unless sufficient reputable evidence can be supplied.

Posters can be suspended or banned at the discretion of the Moderators and Admin. (See also Wolty's List)

Hate speech, prejudice and unwarranted abuse are actively discouraged.

Completely unsupportable claims, unreasonable arguments and misuse of the facilities may attract bans.

Q1: I cannot start threads except in this area. Is this discrimination?
You would be correct. The site is primarily for atheists, and you are here as a guest. We have made room for you, and that is more than most believer sites would do for us.

Q2: I can't do PMs. Why?
Our volunteer staff were deluged with abusive PMs from somebody on the Island. There were also the enterprising evangelists (one of a wacko pseudoscience theory, and a couple of Jesus's buddies) who thought that singling out our members and quietly barraging them with PMs might work where the forum format patently didn't.

We are not god's Post Office. You have a voice on the doorstep, but the lounge is for the ungodly.

Q3: Why am I being banned and censored?
You're not. The very fact you can post that question, without anybody taking your account or that post off the forums, let alone the post which you're complaining about (generally still quite legible in its original form, on Fantasy Island) would prove that.

Your post is in the place where religion and belief is discussed in a belief/no-belief dialogue.
