It just happened again, this time it was a friend of my boyfriends who also called him a fag and insisted she was not being offensive because her brothers gay as if that has anything to do with it. I acually thought we were friends and i expected my boyfriend to stand up for himself but instead he just fucked off and left me to deal with it (and hung up on me when i later called to talk about it) so i'm feeling stupid for thinking i was close to either of them.

Many people are adult in years, but unfortunately their ethics and behaviour needs to catch up. Not your problem or failing LG. Unfortunately we have to share the same air with those who have wooden hearts and sawdust for brains.
Just stick to the idea that science tests falsifiable hypotheses to destruction.

LG, I am so sorry you have to face this type of treatment.
Many moons ago when I was starting Uni, I (shamefully) was someone that held these kind of beliefs. I would never have called someone out like this, but the cancerous thoughts were there. It is through the bravery of people like yourself that forced me to rethink my ways. Not only have people like you participated in paving the way to a better future, strangely enough, I think you have helped make people like me a better human being. Go figure.

Growing up means watching my heroes turn human in front of me.
