Thread: Royal Commission corruption

I thought I explained most of the queries regarding my personal venting.

If you want a full report with diary notes etc. I definitely don't have time this weekend, and was leaving that until the Police decide if it is necessary or not.
Would it even be appropriate for me to put times, dates, names, and other details here?

If the big problem is, are the staff Christians or not? Give them a call and ask. I encourage others to start having a look around at what happens when religion becomes involved. We need to check things for ourselves.

    There is information on Google.

Especially the claim made multiple times that there has been a breach of s116 of the constitution.
I had not made this connection. Do you mean if all or most employees are Christian, that they therefore excluded others? I don't think exclusion would have been by design. It probably happened because the jobs were arranged by word of mouth. I have no detail about this. Is there an authority who deals with a breach of the constitution? I really don't think it happened consciously like that.

My understanding is that Public Service jobs need to advertised. Departments usually get around that by already having people assigned and the advertising is just "red tape". I think it is pretty common place, so nothing really out of the ordinary anyway.

I received a reply from the Royal Commission on Tuesday. It seems to be a form letter apart from the acknowledgement of previously provided information.
I suppose it is OK to post. If someone needs me to forward the original to them for verification, please PM me your email address and I will do it.

They mention Knowmore. Yes I did ring them, and yes it appears they are a group of Christian solicitors employed by the Federal Government to deal with compensation for victims who submit their story to the Royal Commission. The guy I spoke to firmly believed that Australia is a christian country and not secular. He even referenced the Terms of Reference as proof, because the queen mentions God. Apart from that he was OK, and in general he was one of the best I have run into in regard to atheism, and I enjoyed the talk.

    Sensitive: Personal

    Dear Mr Frisken,

Thank you for your email to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse on 27 June 2017.

I note the issues you raise, and advise that your email has been added to the information you provided previously and passed to the appropriate officers within the Royal Commission.

If you would like legal advice in relation to seeking compensation, you may wish to contact ‘Knowmore’, an independent legal service funded by the Australian Government in response to the establishment of the Royal Commission. Knowmore is a free service that provides legal advice and assistance, legal information and referral to related services where necessary, and assistance with preparing written statements and submissions. Knowmore’s staff includes lawyers, counsellors, social workers and Aboriginal liaison officers. Knowmore’s national free advice line is 1800 605 762, open from 9:00am to 5:00pm AEST, Monday to Friday.

Thank you again for your email.

Something for the mods, as I am now no longer one, is the possibility of him bullying believers with his shit. I slightly wince at him responding to the believing n00b
    You won't believe me.
This weekend I will be helping someone for three or four hours over the telephone. They just happen to be Christian, and I will ask if my posting their doctrine here is at all offensive to them.
As a humanist pastoral care worker, I applaud you.

    And thank you.
Forgive me, I'm a sociologist and high horse slut!

A little coda to this discussion, such as it is.

So, my partner and I were over at my parents' place last night and the discussion turned to Pell. Not my doing: my mother is an ultra-catholic with highly conservative views across the board.

Anyway, among things such as that Pell is definitely innocent (1) and that the accusers are all liars and the request for him to return home to face charges is contrary to the principle of innocence until guilt is proven(2), the charges and the Royal Commission itself are a plot by leftist-atheists(3) to destroy the Church (4).

So the Commission is both a religious plot and an atheist plot.

    (1) but the Anglicans are just as bad

    (2) source: Rumpole

    (3) she knows I am an atheist but treats it like my ink and my piercings: if ignored, they don't exist

    (4) because the church stands in the way of gay marriage and abortion and similar evils. We know that this is a bad thing because of the decline of society and the consequent uptick in violence especially among young people. In school.

Your account sounds rather purgatorial for you wearestardust.

The theist outlook is necessarily cloistered, negative, cynical, pessimistic. The world for them is evil, corrupted. This cultivates narrow-mindedness and in some, mean spiritedness, venality.

Religion has ever been a bane, an impediment to the quest for an enlightened, reasoning and a progressively better world as is reflected in the humanist manifesto.

I mainly wrote that for those without who may be browsing around the forums.

    Quite.

I sometimes wonder if my broadly progressive views indicate not a thoughtful approach to community but are a sort of a holdover of teenage rebellion against my parents' theocratic, racist, anti-Semitic, Islamaphobic, sexist views.

I am secretly hoping my daughter will take up with ardent young idealists and demo-organising activists when she gets to uni in a few years' time, still doing her best at the course-work.

Contrarians, socialists, atheists, feminists, into social justice, the environment and against mediocrity, conformism, exploitation, bigotry and everything, carrying the baton.
